Test kits and accessories are designed to help your organisation meet regulatory testing requirements for close-fitting masks. The kits can be used to validate the face-mask seal on any disposable or half-face mask. Not suitable for fit testing of full-face masks - this must be done by quantitative fit testing.
The products can be used to validate the face-mask seal on any disposable mask or half-face mask. To test a half-face mask, it must be fitted with a P3 Dust Filter for the fit test. 3M offers two kits for quality fit testing equipment kits FT-10 (Sweet) and FT-30 (Bitter). FT-10 uses a test solution of sodium saccharin, which produces a sweet-tasting aerosol. FT-30 uses a test solution of denatonium benzoate to produce a bitter-tasting aerosol. The choice between the bitter and sweet test kit is personal. However, a small percentage of the population is unable to detect saccharin. In that case, the bitter test kit should be used (and conversely, if bitterness cannot be detected, the sweet test kit should be used). 3M recommends that users first undergo face fit testing and repeat this regularly as part of their occupational respiratory protection programme before using a mask. Follow all applicable national and other guidelines regarding fit testing on the face. If not available, see ISO 16975-3 or contact 3M.
